 The latest Y-3 sneaker from Yohji Yamamoto is billed as “The iconic 
adidas Superstar [stripped] down to its purest essentials,” but that 
only tells a part of the story.  First off, the Y-3 Smooth is actually 
more of a twist on the Pro Model, as it’s a hightop shelltoe, not the 
Superstar’s low.  And while a stripped down Pro Model would
 reflect the basic shape of the shoe, it’s been utterly transformed 
along the sides, where the presence of an exteriorized heel support
